Describe Gawain's Appearance and Demeanor When He Left After 1 Year

When Gawain began his journey to face his doom, he was ready to fight. He put on his armor, which consisted of a silk tunic, steel shoes, a white fur cloak, plates at his knees, elbow guards, and gloves. He wore rather expensive clothing. Everything he wore was tied together with steel rings. The shield that he held was the most important article he had. It was a "scarlet shield with its pentangle painted in pure gold." The pentangle is a star with 5 angles; it is eternal and never ends, no matter how much you can trace it around. Gawain dressed as if he was going on a hero journey. If he was going to die, he was going to die a hero. As he was getting ready to leave, he seemed to become a hero in his mind. He knew that he would probably not survive what the knight would do to him, but he wanted to dress like a knight and feel like a hero anyway.
