Sir Gawain was dressed with the up most taste, wearing cloths unheard of that glimmered and gleamed. "He tries on his tunic of extravagant silk, then the neatly cut cloak, closed at the neck, its lining finished with a layer of white fur." His metal plates was highly polished, with threads of gold knotted. His whole suit was made of shimmering steel rings, "encasing his body and his costly clothes". He had on glinting metal gloves, and his gold spurs shone, with such pride that one could see what displayed in his demeanor as well. "Fastened in his armor he seemed fabulous, famous, every link looking golden to the very last loop." But although he acted fabulous and as if he was all that, he still had some humbleness left in him, for he attended church, and did not let his big head get in the way of the true king, God.
